결국은 포트폴리오에 대한 얘기가 주를 이루게 될 것 같네요.

Blackbird는 LP로 블랙버드 투자를 받았던 스타트업 대표들, 그리고 펀드에 연결되어 있는 사람들이 지속적으로 LP로 참여하는 것을 주 모델로 소개하고 있습니다. 호주하면 떠오르는 Atlassian도 그 좋은 예네요.
Blackbird는 약 2달의 Round Process를 소개하고 있습니다. 상당히 빠른 진행입니다.
제가 호주에서 겪어 본 라운드들은 오히려 더 빠른 투자라운드들도 있었습니다. 무튼 호주사람들 답지않게? 상당히 빠른 투자 의사결정과 진행입니다.
Pitching 후 투자의사결정까지 약 4주, 투자결정 후 Term Sheet 마무리, 송금까지 3주 정도 총 7주의 프로세스로 진행이 된다고 합니다. 실제로 회사 소개에서 "우리는 Speed를 매우 중요하게 생각한다"고 소개하고 있습니다.
아직 Exit은 하지 않았지만 호주 유니콘 하면 빠지지 않고 등장하는, 최근 가장 핫한, 2012년 초기투자한 Canva (USD 6 bil value)를 비롯해서 IPO는 물론 M&A를 통해 여러 Exit을 성공적으로 이뤄낸 것을 볼 수 있습니다.
포트폴리오 소개에서 정보를 찾기 어려운 스타트업들은 홈페이지도 찾기가 어려웠는데요. 정황상 RIP 수순에 접어든게 아닌가 조심스레 예상해 봅니다.
총 120여 스타트업에 투자한 것으로 알려져 있으며, 아래 소개하는 포트폴리오는 블랙버드 홈페이지에 소개된 회사들로 정리했습니다. 2012년 부터 2019년 포트폴리오에 대해 소개되어 있습니다.
주로 High-tech 스타트업에 투자하고 있으며 Sector는 다양하게 분포되어 있습니다. 최근들어 AI에 집중하는 모습도 보이네요. Seed ~ Series A 위주로 투자하고 있으며, 때로는 Series C, D에도 참여하는 모습이 보입니다. 좀 더 정리를 해야 정확하게 알수 있겠으나 해외 스타트업에도 투자하는 모습을 볼 수 있습니다.
